What is a PDF?
TL;DR: PDF (Portable Document Format) is a file format created by Adobe in 1993 to present documents consistently across all devices and operating systems. Unlike Word documents, PDFs look the same everywhere — same fonts, same layout, same formatting, regardless of the device or software used to open them.
PDFs support text, images, vector graphics, forms, annotations, digital signatures, and embedded fonts. The format is now an open standard (ISO 32000) and is the most widely used document format for sharing, printing, and archiving.
